END OF YEAR INSIGHTS
For those of you who may not be aware Nutritional Insight is an independent scientific consultancy that works with corporate companies, PR agencies, media, public sector and private clients providing high-level expertise to inform, innovate and drive change.
REFLECTIONS
Nutritional Insight had a good year in 2024. This was great and reassuring given the uncertainty that the pandemic bought for some research consultancies. I very much like this quote by Ernest Boyer who was the former US Commissioner of Education:
“Research must continue to be the centrepiece of intellectual life, and our commitment to research must grow, because our problems are growing.”

COMMITING TO RESEARCH
Indeed, at Nutritional Insight that’s just what we do – we identify nutritional problems, gaps and areas where there are misconceptions. We then work with clients to educate and inform.
Last year we had the privilege of working on a range of scientific projects which included:
INTERNAL SCIENTIFIC REVIEWS – We conducted internal scientific reviews for clients who needed research undertaking to identify future directions in terms or product development and areas to take forward for innovation.
FORMULATION DOSSIER – Nutritional Insight worked on a series of projects that involved unravelling the data and science to help develop and put proposals forward for new products. This included supplement formulations for established clients.
CPD TRAINING MODULES – We developed Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Training Education Modules for a range of clients. At Nutritional Insight Dr Derbyshire has 10 years’ experience as an educator and presenter which could be fed into the development of these modules.
ROUNTABLE MEETING ORGANISATION & WRITE UP – Nutritional Insight helped to independently arrange a Roundtable scientific meeting. The meeting was then written up into a scientific publication for peer-review and publishing.
GUEST SPEAKER EVENTS – Dr Derbyshire, CEO of Nutritional Insight presented at a range of speaker events. Some were to health professionals, others to media audiences and the public.
WRITING OF SCIENTIFIC MANUSCRIPTS – Nutritional Insight compiled several independent peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts. This included systematic reviews, narrative reviews and CPD papers. We worked last year to some tight deadlines but were successful in meeting these.
COMPILATION OF SCIENTIFIC/KEY MESSAGING DOCUMENTS – For some clients we compiled key messaging documents. These are evidence-based statements that can be used for dissemination across a range of communication channels.
WRITING OF PRESS RELEASES – At Nutritional Insight we compiled press releases that are authentic and evidence-backed. We worked closely with established PR agencies.
SCIENTIFIC COPYWRITING – We undertook a range of copywriting projects which included blogs, social media content and video scripts. Dr Derbyshire has experience recording educational videos, webinars, reels and more!
A MORE PERSONAL ONE - NEW BOOK! – Nutritional Insight is ultimately about identifying gaps, scientific storytelling and helping to fill these gaps. Having worked with the ADHD Foundation over a series of years and when my daughter was diagnosed with dyslexia, I identified a ‘nutritional gap’ in these fields. No one was speaking enough about nutrition. So, in the pandemic I made the best use of time and wrote “Nutrition for ADHD and Dyslexia: Unlocking the Potential for Learning and Wellbeing” as a side project. This is soon to be published on January 21st and is available from all mainstream bookstores.
